A unique watch, our challenge: to take the best of the Rolex Submariner 5513 and the best of the Rolex Submariner 114060 and merge them to create a new “revised” and “corrected” beauty by master watchmakers and specialists in the processing of precious steel. Colors live and transform.
The original color, black, blends with those that time has involuntarily generated. So new ones are born, now it is a matt polychromy that feeds the passion; a green shade prevails over it, invaded by the shadow of time, the result of gradually evolving over the past 58 years.

The protagonist of this introduction is a masterpiece, a Rolex Submariner watch reference 5513, serial 1.188.759 with a unique dial, an important assignment commissioned to us by a lover of the vintage watchmaking sector.
With this project Matt Spirit pays homage to one of the most iconic timepieces ever by creating a new identity in a modern key based on its penultimate successor.

The green Krypton dial

To create the new dial it was necessary to reproduce the matt effect then pervaded by a crystalline patina to bring the green color to life.
The “dusts” that time has created and integrated into the dial of the Rolex 5513 can be found in a layer of Fuchsite and 24 karat gold on the standard Rolex 114060 metal base.

With a similar philosophy, the standard hands and indexes of the Rolex 114060 are covered with a yellow gold foil and are made luminescent with the same color change as the 5513 in question. The crowned logo and letterings have been reproduced maintaining the charm of the fonts of that age.

"Superdome" glass

The sapphire crystal has been completely redesigned to have the same domed, lens effect profile named “superdome” and made scratch-resistant to withstand potential shocks while diving.

Same structure for the fixing joint on the case which guarantees a degree of impermeability of 20 atmospheres.

The case and caseback

The central body of the case and the back remodelled by stoning machine, strictly standard parts of the Rolex 114060.

The proportions have been lightened so as to have all the charm of the 5513 with its shapes, the satin finishes, the unmistakable polished bevels, the camber on the case back, the sinuous shoulders protecting the crown, all without distorting the characteristics of the Rolex 114060. A modern impact and of extraordinary solidity, all merged in the NOS philosophy, “New Old Style”, all Matt Spirit made.

Bezel

The rotating bezel is shaped with a more rounded profile and houses a matt black ceramic insert.

Crown

The embossed crowned logo on the clasp returns a vintage look, once again a blending of charm and functionality.

Lugs

The lugs have beveled and polished corners with a satin finish.

The body of the bracelet and the clasp

The bracelet body and clasp presented a significant challenge. Intricate craftsmanship resulted in modelling the connections of the bracelet to visually recreate the typical joint of the 7206 and 6636. We maintain the degree of durability of the solid end link and Oyster links fashioned just as the historical predecessor with the rivets.

The retractable elements, inside the clasp of Rolex 114060, although robust and functional, have been removed, creating the typical hook.

The Movement is essentially perfect

The Rolex 114060 movement is essentially perfect. The Rolex caliber 3130 is the engine that makes this wonderful watch come to life. Concealing its perfection inside the case is a choice, personalizing the rotor a privilege.

It is protected and hidden “{kryptos}” by the domed and polished caseback as in the 5513. No detail should be left to chance, this is our philosophy, for this reason every detail of the Matt Spirit Krypton 5513 is engraved with our logo.

From the Rolex Submariner 5513 we take inspiration for the aesthetic and technical details:

the green dial composed of Fuxite and 24Kt gold with detailed graphics like in 1965
indexes and spheres covered in 24Kt gold
the “superdome” sapphire crystal
the rotating bezel insert in fuxite made bidirectional
the bevelled winding crown branded like the Twin Look
the shape, the orientation of the satin finish and the polished bevels of the lugs
the more sinuous and tapered edges to protect the crown
the holes on the lugs for inserting the bracelet
the shaping and polished camber of the case back
the riveting of the bracelet with SEL ends machined like the famous 7206
the embossed “crowned” logo on the bracelet clasp
the shape and mechanics of the clasp adjustable from the outside
